Week 11 was an action packed slate filled with shake ups in division standings and all around great play. Some players put their teams on their back and dragged them to victory, while others completely crumbled. Let’s take a look at the Week 11 Studs and Duds.
Stud: Josh Allen
Josh Allen just put on a historic performance, becoming the only player in NFL history to throw three touchdowns and rush for three more. He has now done it twice in his career, with the first coming last season against the Rams.
Allen threw for 317 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions, and added 40 yards and three rushing touchdowns on the ground, finishing with a massive fantasy haul. It was a much needed bounce back for Allen and the Bills after the embarrassing loss to the Dolphins last week. With matchups against weak defenses in the Steelers and Bengals coming up, expect Allen to continue piling up stats.
Dud: Justin Herbert & Company
The Chargers were completely embarrassed by the Jaguars, scoring only six points and putting up just 135 total yards of offense. This game marked Justin Herbert’s second worst performance in his 90 game career. He finished with only 81 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception (3.3 fantasy points).
Because of Herbert’s struggles, the Chargers receivers suffered too. Quentin Johnston put up a goose egg across the stat sheet, and Ladd McConkey managed only 13 yards on three catches. Losing stud left tackle Joe Alt has crippled this offense, and the wheels are falling off fast.
Stud: Michael Wilson
When your quarterback completes 47 passes, you expect to win the game or at least score more than 22 points. Arizona did neither, but Michael Wilson reaped all the benefits. He caught 15 of his 18 targets for 185 yards (33.5 fantasy points), the highest receiving total in any game this season.
With Marvin Harrison Jr’s return from an appendectomy still uncertain, Wilson should continue seeing massive volume as the Cardinals constantly play from behind.
Dud: Sam Darnold
Sam Darnold is throwing his MVP chances away, literally and figuratively. The Seahawks were dethroned by the Rams for first place in the NFC West after Darnold threw for 279 yards, zero touchdowns, and four interceptions (4.3 fantasy points).
Despite his four picks, Seattle still had a chance to win, but they missed a game winning field goal. The Rams appear to be Darnold’s kryptonite. He threw two interceptions against them in last year’s Vikings playoff loss as well. Darnold has now committed seven turnovers in his past two games, a huge drop off from his first six weeks when he had just four.
Stud: Sean Tucker
There may be a new RB1 in Tampa Bay. Sean Tucker had a breakout performance, taking 19 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns, and adding another 34 yards and a receiving touchdown on two catches (34.0 fantasy points).
With Bucky Irving’s return timeline still uncertain and Rachaad White’s role shrinking by the week, Tucker looks like he could be the new featured back. However, Irving is returning to practice in limited capacity and the Buccaneers face one of the best defenses in football next week in the Rams, so temper expectations.
Dud: Lamar Jackson
The Ravens won, but Lamar Jackson did very little to help them get there. He threw for 193 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions, and rushed for just 10 yards. Meanwhile, Myles Garrett wreaked havoc with four sacks, strengthening his defensive player of the year case.
Concerns for Jackson should be minimal. He is still recovering from injury and has a favorable schedule ahead. Now it is a matter of whether he and the Ravens can capitalize.
Emergency Room
Josh Jacobs
Josh Jacobs exited in the first half against the Giants with a knee injury after starting strong with 40 yards on seven carries. The good news is that Jacobs avoided major damage and will not need surgery. He is week to week, but reports suggest he could play Sunday. Still, it is unlikely the Packers or Jacobs will risk it, so Emanuel Wilson becomes a priority pickup after scoring 13.9 fantasy points on only 12 touches.
Michael Penix Jr
Michael Penix Jr has officially been placed on IR with a knee injury and is expected to miss the rest of the season. Kirk Cousins will take over at quarterback, but with Drake London also week to week with a knee issue, expectations for Cousins should be tempered. The player most likely to see a major bump in volume is Bijan Robinson, who should become the focal point of the Falcons offense moving forward.
